We will write a custom essay on The story line of the movie is Oskar Shindler come specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The story starts out in September 1939 after Poland was taken over. The Jews are being forced to one side of the town. March 20, 1941 deadline for entering the Ghetto march 13, 1943 was the liquidation of the Ghettos. The Jews start to hide so they dont have to go to the concentration camps, Plaszow forced labor camps were Oskars workers lived. People from Shindlers list were moved to Zwittau-Brinneitz Czechoslacia, Oskar Shindlers home town. Culture setting was very sad. The main religions were Jewish, and Natzizum. There living in concentration camps. No money, very little food, and diseases all around. The main characters in the movie are Oskar Shindler, and his friend Itzahak Stern who helped run the factory. Oskar starts to feel bad for the Jews. That leads him to start saving them. The turning point is when Oskar and Itzhak sit down to make the list of Jews that he will buy. The falling actions is when the war ends and Oskar is saying good by to more than1,100 Jews he saved. When he is given a gold ring made from the teeth of Itzhak, and Oskar leaves. The movie ends with all the surviving Jews that Oskar saved, setting stones on the memorial grave of Oskar Shindler. The main message, I think the director is trying to get across is how much difference one man can do. The sensitivity shown by Oskar. Not by words but buy facial expressions. Toward the end he started to speak his sensitivity. My reaction to this video is feeling sorry for the Jews. It gives me a visual of how many Jews there actually were. I dont know who would like this movie because its a very graphic, and sad movie. What it had to say was very much worth the time to watch it.

Thoughts on Christmas Eve
Thoughts on Christmas Eve Free Online Research Papers Wow, itââ¬â¢s another Christmas Eve, but this time, itââ¬â¢s the one of the year 2010. Itââ¬â¢s a beautiful evening and I was feeling inspired to just leave every single thing that I was doing to come write this down. Itââ¬â¢s coming straight from the heart. As I walked around my home, a few days ago, I realized that this Christmas season isnââ¬â¢t as much fun as the others have been. At first, I thought that it was just me and everyone in my home who wasnââ¬â¢t in the Christmas spirit, but the other day, I decided to go out and I realized that I wasnââ¬â¢t the only one with the feeling, the city also wasnââ¬â¢t alive as it ought to be, I kept wondering what is going on? Is it the economy or what? Then, this blessed Christmas Eve, I started doing what I know how to do best, fantasizing and recollecting. I began to fantasize about a perfect Christmas holiday, how perfect everything ought to be and when I was done with that, I started to recollect all the great but not perfect past Christmas holidays that Iââ¬â¢ve had and the fun that came with it. But as I was in this crazy state of mind, something dawned on me and it was that I should enjoy the moment before it passed me by. Then, all of a sudden I stopped and I got myself back to reality, back to the present. I stopped complaining about how boring this Christmas season has been. I realized that even if I might not be having as much fun as I wanted, thereââ¬â¢s much to be grateful for. Just the other day, I got sad news about the passing away of someone whom I used to know. I began to realize how this gift of life we take so much for granted could be easily taken away. Now, Iââ¬â¢m in my bedroom just typing and thinking alongside. Normally, since this is Christmas Eve, I would be outside looking at the stars, making and receiving phone calls, sending and receiving text messages, or watching a movie with my family and probably making preparations for tomorrow, Christmas day. But Iââ¬â¢m compelled to just sit back and take a break from my normal routine and thank God for the year so far. Itââ¬â¢s been such a great year; I had the best time in school, spiritually, academically, and socially. My family also has been so blessed by God in many ways and I have the best friends anyone could ever ask for, so why complain. So now, Iââ¬â¢ve decided to enjoy the present and thank God for everything he has done for me. Iââ¬â¢m surrounded by the best people in the world and I ought not to complain about how boring things are, Iââ¬â¢ve to make things as much fun as I want them to be. I have decided to give as much love as I can possibly give, God gives us little chances everyday to show kindness to people, so why not use the opportunities you have to put laughter into the hearts of others and youââ¬â¢ll realize that you too will definitely laugh and have a smile on your face. So, all Iââ¬â¢ve been trying to say is donââ¬â¢t keep thinking about how things can get better, make things better, be thankful for everything, both the good and the bad because you know when thereââ¬â¢s life, thereââ¬â¢s definitely hope. Above, letââ¬â¢s all try and learn the lesson of living in the present and also taking time to enjoy the moment because itââ¬â¢s all weââ¬â¢ve got for now. Merry Christmas, everyone, enjoy the holidays. Organization Justice , Ethics, and Corporate Social Responsibility Essay
Organization Justice , Ethics, and Corporate Social Responsibility - Essay Example There are many steps that are taken to manage ethics in the company. Firstly, the code of ethics is designed and practiced efficiently. The code of ethics is the first most important aspect which has to be covered by any company. It is a document which sets up and monitors the ethical practices of the organization. This code of ethics are reviewed by a committee on a regular basis and checked. Secondly it is essential to ensure that the employees understand the code of ethics and thus the company trains and educates its employees for ethical behavior and gives them the potential to understand the meaning of the code of ethics (Suhonen, 2011). Contemporary Marketing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Contemporary Marketing - Essay Example The company was formed in 1998, by two Stanford University students Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Hamen, 2011). The company has grown extensively over the years and has in many ways surpassed the basic objective of accumulating all information and providing easier accessibility across the globe. As explained in the website, ââ¬Å"From offering search in a single language we now offer dozens of products and servicesââ¬âincluding various forms of advertising and web applications for all kinds of tasksââ¬âin scores of languages. And starting from two computer science students in a university dorm room, we now have thousands of employees and offices around the worldâ⬠(Google, 2011). The company now has a wide range of products and services and several different options which help make it easier for the world to share the information. For instance the company has developed several applications like Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs and many others which help in better acces sibility to data and information. The further sections will deal with the impact of technology on several aspects of marketing of Google (Hamen, 2011). Marketing communication is a major part of every business and in some ways can be considered to be a subset of marketing itself. The marketing of a company is based on the marketing mix (4 Ps in the case of products and 7 Ps in the case of services), and marketing communication is a means of promoting the marketing mix of a company. Technology and marketing go hand in hand and with the ever changing technology, the options for marketing communication have also increased to a great extent (Jobber, 2009). Marketing communication within a company needs to be integrated as it helps keep the customers aware of the brand name and image. Advancing technology is definitely not a trend and this has a number of

A Study On Hard Disk Drive Computer Science Essay
A Study On Hard Disk Drive Computer Science Essay Every desktop computer, laptop and netbook contains a hard-disk drive. The hard-disk drive, better known as the hard drive, is one of the most vital components in a computer. The hard drive stores information for the computer in a non-volatile way, meaning that when the user shuts off the computer, all the information he saved will still be there when he turns the computer back on. Today, hard drives can store an enormous amount of information. We will take a look at how a hard drive operates and saves information. Figure 1 is a picture of a typical hard drive (Hallock). Figure 1: Enclosed hard drive (Hallock) Six basic elements make up the composition of a hard drive: The enclosure, spindle motor, hard drive platters, actuator arm, interface and logic board. The enclosure is simply the outer shell that protects and holds everything together. The four largest and most important properties that will be outlined below are the interface, logic board, hard drive platters, spindle motor, and the read/write to disk. The actuator arm will be referred to and described within these outlined sections (Hallock). Interface A hard drive connects to your computer through a specific type of interface (Bleeping Computer). The hard drive port and the port on the computer where they connect must be the same; otherwise they will not be able to sync up together. Logic Board The logic board performs several significant operations. The logic board is the brain of the hard drive. It tells the computer what the drive is, how big it is, what cable its connected to, and how to access the drive in your operating system. Figure 2 below is a picture of a logic board (Hallock). Another key function of the logic board is the read/write cache process, without this the hard drive would be slow in saving and retrieving files. When a computer is told to open 1,000 megabytes of information, the hard drive passes the information to you as quickly as it is able through the cache process. While the hard drive is loading the first 16MB of the file, the next chunk of data is prepared to roll and is waiting in the cache; when you open the cached chunk of data, another is fed into the cache, and so on until all the information is opened. This is the read portion of the cache process, the reverse of this process occurs to write information (Hallock). This cache process is an integral part of the read/write to disk function that is described in a section below. Hard Drive Platters Platters are the round plates in the Figure 4 below (Bleeping Computer). Platters contain all the information stored on the hard drive. The platters themselves are the most important and complicated component included in a hard drive. Todays platters are thin disks (thus the hard disk name) of glass or aluminum, coated with an ultra-thin layer of a cobalt alloy, which is naturally magnetic. Data is written to sectors which are organized into concentric rings outwards from the spindle called tracks, and all of those are managed into clusters by the file system youve chosen. To write the data, the actuator arm aligns the magnetization of the platter in a pattern recognizable to the hard drives logic board (Hallock). In other words, the actuator arm swings across the platter to find information that the user desires. The Spindle Motor The spindle motor is the most basic moving component in a hard drive. The spindle motor is controlled by the logic board and is responsible for turning the hard disk platters, allowing the hard drive to operate. The faster the spindle spins the faster the read/write capabilities the hard drive has. Below in Figure 3 is a spindle motor stripped of its platters and all other components (PC Guide). Figure 3: Spindle Motor (PC Guide) Read/Write to Disk The read process is when the user requests data from the hard drive and it is transmitted to the computer. The write process is when the user saves information on the hard drive for later use. Here are the steps in the read/write process: The user requests information on the hard drive. The operating system accesses the files and locations via the motherboards hard drive controller. The operating system tells the hard drives logic board that it wants a file. The logic board spins up the platters on the spindle. The actuator arm is moved into position. The logic board reads and amplifies the very weak, isolated magnetic fields that comprise your data. The logic board begins using the actuator to read information from the sectors in the requested cluster. Information is streamed into the hard drive cache. The information is fed from the cache, to the hard drive controller, to you and RAM. The write process is almost the exact opposite, except instead of accessing the platters to find a files location; its accessing the file table to find free clusters for write space (Hallock). Summary Hard drives are the main component in many computer-driven technologies today. There are seven basic parts to a hard drive; the enclosure, spindle, platter, motor, actuator arm, interface and logic board. A hard drive in where all the information is stored on a computer. Hard drives have been a key innovative technology in saving and storing data that has become such an integral part of our society. Works Cited Hallock, Robert. How Hard Drives Work.Icrontic. Comparision and Contrast between the Rocking Horse Winner and the Road
Comparision and Contrast between the Rocking Horse Winner and the Road not Taken Life's stories shared through the view of two writers. Both stories have many similarities, however, contrast with just as many differences. "The Destructors", written by Graham Green, and "The Rocking Horse Winner" written by D.H. Lawrence. When contrasting these two stories, consider the plot, characters, story line, and each authors approach. Also consider the intent and mood each author sets forth. In the story " The Destructors" the setting is in a London car park called Northwood Terrace, nine years concluding World War II. The plot deals with gang of young boys from the street, whose soul purpose, is to destroy the inside of Mr. Thomas' house without him even knowing it. Mr. Thomas, once a builder and decorator, was better referred to as Old Misery by the Wormsley Gang. He was viewed as a mean old man, and the only time he was usually seen is when he is traveling to and from the market once or twice a week. In the "The Rocking Horse Winner", the plot starts off around Paul, a ...

Lars and the Real Girls Essay
In the film Lars and the real girl by Craig Gillespie, an important character developed is Lars. Lars lives in a tight knit community based in a small American town. Lars has a fear of human contact which results in him suffering form a delusional disorder where he falls I love with, Bianca, a life sized ââ¬Ërealââ¬â¢ doll. Through his relationship with Bianca he is provided with unconditional love and lack of criticism he desires. This inurn helps him gain confidence he requires to engage in his community and begin to relate to those around him. Gillespie shows the development Lars undergoes through the techniques setting, costume and dialogue. In the opening-establishing scene we are introduced to images of barren landscapes, harsh white lighting and a thick layer of snow that covers anything vibrant. The ââ¬Ëcoldââ¬â¢, ââ¬Ëstillââ¬â¢ environment provokes a disconsolate mood, which parallels to our first introduction of Lars. We are introduced to Lars through a frosted girded window. The window is symbolic to Larsââ¬â¢s initial mental state, as he appears emotionally frozen. The squares grids on the window enforce a restriction between him and the audience. The dark lighting behind him contrast with the white painted grids on the window, making him look imprisoned this reinforces the literal barriers he puts up from the rest of the community. His facial expression is monotonous which harmonizes with the setting. The barriers put between the audience and Lars is a way Gillespie. Costume is another technique Gillespie uses to establish Lars personality.in the opening scene Lars is introduced wearing excessive layers of winter jumpers, long trousers, and chunky scarfs. This reinforces the visual barriers Lars puts up due to his fear of literal and emotional human contact. The clothing is all natural tones, the absence of color adds to the ominous feeling Gillespie uses minimal dialogue to portray Larsââ¬â¢s character as socially recluse. Limited dialogue helps the viewer to understand Lars is introverted because he is afraid to socially interact with other people. The lack of dialogue also helps us appreciate the dialogue he does say, ââ¬Å"I thought the snow was over. Knowing that it has been carefully selected by the director to contribute or develop and important idea. Often Lars character substitutes words by awkwardly squinting his eyes shut. This happens when Lars is uncomfortable in the social situation. The audience is manipulated to feel sympathetic towards him. Its important that this sympathetic connection is made early on, so the audience is engaged in his development. Upon the arrival of Bianca, we see a false thaw in the weather. As Lars introduce Bianca to Karin (Larsââ¬â¢s sister in law) and Gus(Larsââ¬â¢s brother) the false thaw signifies Lars begging to open himself up to Karin and Gus through the arrival of Bianca. The deceptive thaw, a few patches grass and a glimmer of sunlight, symbolizes Lars emotional retrieval. Through the unconditional love and lack of criticism he desires Bianca provides him, Lars begins to interact with the community having Bianca close by as a protective armor. However it is only false thaw, as Bianca is only plastic and will never be able to provide him with true fulfillment. However the way the community plays along with Bianca gives lars the chance to find his own identity in his own time and in his own way. As an audience we see the immense healing power a community can have if the come together to support an individual. Costume further shows Lars development, as Lars shows love interest for Margo (Lars colleague). This shows a huge transition in his character as it shows he has gained the confidence to obtain a mature healthy relationship with a real person. Costume enhances this conversion, as he isnââ¬â¢t wearing as many layers, showing he is more comfortable around her. By eliminating the armor like clothing, we see he is emotionally ready to let people close to him. Lars is also starting to wear colors, pink in particular, which is the color we associate Margo with because she always dresses in it. This shows the positive influence Margo has on Lars. Wearing warm colors like pink purposely triggers positive connotations to the viewer, which makes his development more obvious and contrasts with the ominous mood at the beginning. Through therapy session Lars confesses finally ready to let Bianca go because he has developed into a mature man who has a place in society and no longer needs Bianca to provide him with a armor like strong front when socially interacting. He realizes his love for Bianca will never be able to provide him with true fulfillment. He announces the death of Bianca to Karin and Gus and the community hold a funeral in respect of Bianca but also to morn the attachment the made with her through Lars. The compassion on love of the community at Biancaââ¬â¢s funeral shows Lars he is not alone, and has the support of those around him. Dialogue Shows us his full development when he says to Margo after the funeral, ââ¬Å"do you want to go for a walk?â⬠this is the first time Lars is initiating human interaction. In the film Lars and the real girl by Craig Gillespie, costume, setting and dialogue help to develop the protagonist Lars. We originally see Lars is introverted, withdrawn and a social recluse, but through the unconditional love and lack of criticism provided by Bianca, a life sized ââ¬Ërealââ¬â¢ doll, we see him grow into a mature man who has found his place in society. The support the community shows, offers Lars the encouragement needed to develop healthier relationships with real people. Gillespie challenges the audience to accept those around us who may not fit in. He makes it our job to not give up on people, even when they have given up on themselves. As an audience we come to appreciate the healing power that one community can have.

Rizal Poems Essays
Rizal Poems Essays Rizal Poems Paper Rizal Poems Paper Essay Topic: Ross Gay Poetry You bid me now to strike the lyre. That deaf-and-dumb person and torn so long has lain: And yet I can non wake the strain. Nor will the Muse one note inspire! Coldly it shakes in accenta dire. As if my psyche itself to contorting. And when its sound seems but to fling A joke at its ain low plaint ; So in sad isolation pent. My psyche can neither experience nor sing. There was a time-ah. t is excessively true ââ¬â But that clip long ago has past ââ¬â When upon me the Muse had cast Indulgent smiling and friendshipââ¬â¢s due ; But of that age now all excessively few The ideas that with me yet will remain ; As from the hours of gay drama There linger on cryptic notes. And in our heads the memory floats Of minstrelsy and music homosexual. A works I am. that barely grown. Was torn from out its Eastern bed. Where all around aroma is shed. And life but as a dream is known ; The land that I can name my ain. By me disregarded neââ¬â¢er to be. Where trilling birds their vocal taught me. And Cascadess with their ceaseless boom. And all along the apreading shore The mutter of the sounding sea. While yet in childhoodââ¬â¢s happy twenty-four hours. I learned upon its Sun to smile. And in my chest at that place seems the piece Huming volcanic fires to play. A bard I was. my wish alway To name upon the fleeting air current. With all the force of poetry and head: Go Forth. and spread around its fire From zone to district with glad acclamation. And Earth to heaven together bind! But it I left. and now no more ââ¬â Like a tree that is broken and dried-up ââ¬â My natal Gods bring the reverberation clear Of vocals that in past times they bore ; Wide seas I crossââ¬â¢d to foreign shore. With hope of alteration and other destiny ; My folly waa made clear excessively tardily. For in the topographic point of good I sought The seas revealââ¬â¢d unto me naught. But made deathââ¬â¢s ghost on me wait. All these fond illusions that were mine. AIl love. all feeling. all emprise. Were left beneath the cheery skies. Which oââ¬â¢er that flowery part radiance ; So press no more that supplication of thine. For vocals of love from out a bosom That in cold blood liea a thing apart ; Since now with torturââ¬â¢d psyche I haste Unresting oââ¬â¢er the desert waste. And lifeless gone is all the art. To my Muse Invoked no longer is the Muse. The lyre is out of day of the month ; The poets it no longer usage. And youth its inspiration now imbues With other signifier and province. If today our illusions aught Of poetry would still necessitate. Heliconââ¬â¢s hill remains undesired ; And without attentiveness we but ask. Why the java is non brought. In the topographic point of idea sincere That our Black Marias may experience. We must prehend a pen of steel. And with poetry and line terrible Flinging abroad a joke and mockery. The yearss of Loveââ¬â¢s delectation ; When flowers still would delight And give to enduring souls cessation From hurting and sorrowââ¬â¢s blight. One by one they have passed on. History of Tin Cans and Can Openers
History of Tin Cans and Can Openers British merchant Peter Durand made an impact on food preservation with his 1810 patenting of the tin can. In 1813, John Hall and Bryan Dorkin opened the first commercial canning factory in England. In 1846, Henry Evans inventedà a machine that could manufacture tin cans at a rate of 60 per hour- a significant increase over the previous rate of only six per hour. First Patented Can Opener The first tin cans were so thick they had to be hammered open. As cans became thinner, it became possible to invent dedicated can openers. In 1858, Ezra Warner of Waterbury, Connecticut patented the first can opener. The U.S. military used it during the Civil War. In 1866, J. Osterhoudt patented the tin can with a key opener that you can find on sardine cans. William Lyman: Classic Can Opener The inventor of the familiar household can opener was William Lyman, who patented a very easy to use can opener in 1870. The inventionà included a wheel that rolls and cuts around the rim of a can, a design we are familiar with today. The Star Can Company of San Francisco improved William Lymans can opener in 1925 by adding a serrated edge to the wheel. An electric version of the same type of can opener was first sold in December of 1931. Beer in a Can On January 24, 1935, the first canned beer, Krueger Cream Ale, was sold by the Kruger Brewing Company of Richmond, Virginia. Pop-Top Can In 1959, Ermal Fraze invented the pop-top can (or easy-open can) in Kettering, Ohio. Aerosol Spray Cans The concept of the aerosol spray canà originated as early as 1790 when self-pressurized carbonated beverages were introduced in France.
